Rear Shock Replacement Question

My Son's 2005 E320 (600 miles away) has conventional suspension.

Rear shock replacement seems easy enough, but my question is can I obtain enough clearance jacking the car with floor jack at the rear jack point to enable removal/installation of the shock, or does the car need to be on a lift?

everything is easier with a lift, but using a jack and stands you should be just fine.

Thanks

I'm doing my rear shocks right now, and although I am using my lift, this definitely could be done with some good jack stands.
