Famous P0335 code not fixed with CPS sensor or plug, HELP please

If anyone else can be kind enough to share some knowledge or experience here. Changed the CPS sensor with three Bosch sensors and also changed the plug and harness. Changed the spark plugs as I was checking for spark anyways after the car shut down as soon as it got warm again. There is no spark after the car shuts down when it gets warm. After it cools completely starts again, spark as per usual as all do when it is the CPS sensor normally. Could it be the ECU???? Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance Rich

If you have not already done so try erasing fault memory and perform initialization using STAR.

Oh no! Sorry I cannot help with your problem, but my 04 just did the same thing 2 days ago. Left me stranded at work and is now at the dealer waiting to be fixed. They ‘confirmed’ it was the CPS, though even I came to that conclusion with my crappy $15 OBD2 reader so now I’m worried the fix will be far worse than what they originally quoted. Yikes. And I didn’t realize this P0335 was so prevalent!

EDIT: So since it’s so prevalent, I will also add here that my local dealer quoted me $499 for replacing the CPS. In the event that future W211 owners also run into this problem and need to make the DIY vs. Dealer decision. Since I have yet to ever make it out of there without paying more than what they initially quote me over the phone, I’m now very afraid of what this ends up costing!

I replaced the CPS last month. Bought a Bosch sensor from online dealer for $40. Took me 15 min including lots of cleaning and ziptights!!!

Are you sure it is a CRANK shaft sensor (CPS), and not a CAMSHAFT sensor?? There is only 1 CPS (you stated replace 3 Bosch sensors??!!) . There are 4 CAMSHAFT sensors, but only 1 CRANK SHAFT sensor. It is a Crank sensor thats broken, not the Cam sensor!!

I understand Rich’s comment to say he replaced CPS 3 times each time with Bosch part.

hopefully yours is a simple replacement of the CPS, as the others notes this is very easy and the bosh parts are easily available. Lots of good resources around to help you replace it on your own if you are so inclined
