Over filled with oil
Recently, I had a reputable indy shop change the oil/filter. The next day I checked the oil level dip stick and it was overfilled (!) by an guesstimated 2 quarts. So I took it back to the indy who agreed with me (!), who then drained about 1-1.5 qts. out. Here's my question:
Given the official engine oil "capacity" of 8.5 qts. for W211 E350s, how much oil typically remains trapped in the engine when it's properly drained? About 1 quart? Or?

Most often it is 1/2 liter, but that when you give the oil time to drip (like 1 hr) what shops never do.
Also pan plug leaves about 1/2 cup in the pan.

You'll be better off doing it yourself if you have the time. Allow yourself about 1hr, and you'll never go back! Plenty of threads to assist you, and money back in the pockets! Besides the manual tells you precisely what is/how much! Cannot go wrong.

He should DIY mostly if he doesn't have time.
Going to shop for oil change takes most of the time couple of hours.
With electric pump ( $29) I can do oil change as fast as 15 minutes and with some practice it can be white gloves job.
I usually take 20-30 minutes to let the oil drip, what gives me time to check other things under the hood.
Those days most of garbage companies and automotive parts places have to take used oil for recycling.
All you need is couple empty milk bottles or old oil jugs.
