Hello everyone. I noticed 2 weeks ago that my 2006 e350 4matic wagon had a light out. It is the light assembly on the trunk hatch that houses the aux brake light and reverse light. The left side functions fine and only on the right does the reverse light work but not the brake/marking light. I've switched the faulty assembly to the left side and both lights function so I know its not the bulb assembly. I traced the wires to the trunk lift modulator and ordered a new one and replaced it thinking that might solve the problem, but it didn't. What is the next thing I can check/replace? Can I run a jumper wire from the left functioning side to the non functioning right side to power the lights or will that throw a code. I have had no check engine light related to this.

Also put regular gas in the car and got P2187, must I run premium?

Did you check the wires in the trunk? There's a long running thread about it just a few down from this one.
