MB Tex Repair
Does anyone have any experience in regards to the cost to repair mb-tex seats which are splitting?
I looked at an 2007 E350 today, and the car was in pretty good condition with only 83 K miles. However the seat was torn as per attached picture, and I therefore did not want to pay the price the owner asked for.
I was wondering if any of you had any experience with repairing this at a professional shop, and what the approximate cost would be to get this taken care of.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance.

I think what you have here can be fixed with few drops of Crazy Glue, but on long run, look on ebay for passenger side cover.

Replacing the cover is technically easy job but requiring flexible fingers.
You need to remove the seat, put it upside down on a bench, press down with your body weight and pull the edges from latching groves.
If you get replacement with padding, then you don't have to worry about hard to reach hooks. Passenger seat will have sensor that you can cut off or remove for resale.
I see W211 popping up on CA junk yards, so finding right color might be only matter of time.

You can find driver seat on JY as well, but it is going to be beaten up.

See the cutout for the seat belt? I'll bet that trying to make a passenger seat cover fit the driver's seat is a no-go and would only lead to tears. TEERS not TARES.

I had the same exact tear in my 2009 e350 before trading it in. Driver's seat also. I regret not stopping the tear in the MBTEX before it grew to 4” from 1/2”. While you figure out what to do, stop it from tearing further. Use a piece of kind of matching colored duct tape.
then your options are limited. Amazon does sell vinyl repair kits. Works ok but won’t ever look factory so make the repair ASAP before it gets worse.
i had tan seats. At least having black seats will hide your repair better. Again, It won’t be perfect but just stop the rip from getting worse,

Thanks.
This is no longer needed (at least for now), as I bought another car and the interior is spotless, with no signs of wear on any of the seats.
