E 320 Cdi
If you have one, what kind of milage are you getting? I'm averaging about 28 mpg. My "95 got about 32 mpg, but for the better performance I suppose you lose a bit of mpg.
BTW love the car, except for the hesitation from a standing start.
I believe that they should be selling at MSRP, or perhaps above, if they get you competing on a specific car. We werent going to be part of that so got the dealer to take a $1K discount on an ordered one, not much but close to the $2K discount edmunds suggest for the '04 gas models. The car should be here in late august... can't wait!
You may want to check which premium package they ordered. There are two, 426: without Active Ventilated Seats and 326: with Active Ventilated Seats.
Over the years I owned several Mercedes diesels and in the past the 92 300D 2.5 turbo was the best with milage getting between 32 - 35MPG; however, it could not even come close to the performance of my new CDI. My only concern about this car is durability otherwise it could be the best Mercedes diesel I ever owned.
4000 miles on clock:
Full tank of diesel produced the following
16.40 hrs running time.
Total distance of 740 miles
Avg MPG of 42.
This included a mixture of all types of road conditions over a couple of weeks. Hot and cold engine temps and a couple of short bursts at 120 mph.
I'm impressed
In the UK using imperial measurements!!!

I am getting nothing like that on a trip, done nothing better than 36 mpg with 5500 miles and thats on motorway. I normally drive 80-95 mph on motorway. I am hoping for a little better.

I've noticed that if you watch the rev counter you can see a step increase in revs at certain speeds and very little movement thereafter where you can build up speed with a minimum amount of extra fuel consumption. From memory, I thinks these are around 55mph and 75mph. Another thing to keep in mind if you want to stretch out your economy is to be fairly gentle until the engine reached full operating temperature.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
But I can say one thing, The chip makes an awesome difference. Its a real beast to drive now!
I have it now for almost four weeks, and the milage for the initial couple of tanks was around 28MPG, since than I took the car for 3000 miles trip to Orlando fully loaded and got close to 33 - 34 MPG. I have also tried to see what happens when I baby it and drive sligthly over the speed limit in that case I could get it up above 36 - 38MPG.

Yes I am thinking exactly the same, the only question is how the durability will stack up versus the older models
I just got a call from my dealer who now says only the 426 package without the active ventilated seats is available and that the seats would have to be ordered separately. The 426 package is $3950. I will try and get them to hold their orginal commitment and not let them raise the price due to there mistake. I am also trying to get them to get MB to allocate an earlier build since the orginal order was messed up based on MB making changes and not communicating properly. Beginning to think this is just not worth it.
Get them to give you some kind of break for the hassle, you are spending enough. C'mon at least a fruit basket ;-) , Good luck.
I was just about to comment on that, you beat me to it! Should be an interesting response.
