Hi friends, I found this on my car, it is in front passenger side, under the glove compartment. Does anybody know what is it for? There is rope on the head, you can pull it, then it goes back. Didn't see any connection to anything

+2. It's the "shock absorber" for the glove box door that allows it to open slowly.
If your glove box door just flops open, it means that the little line that is attached to the absorber has come loose from its mooring. That is usually fixed with a zip tie or something like that-a small plastic piece that it is meant to attach to it breaks, and the damping effect of the absorber is lost until you reconnect it.
There are a few threads here about that. Common issue.
