New member and needs help

Hello all! I am the owner of a mercedes cC-180 2006. I love it and I have sinds few weeks a problem. The problem is in navigator-radio system. Sinds two weeks it is saying insert navigation CD and has a problem with reading it. I do not want to use the navigation anymore but only listen to radio. It is not coming further than please insert navigation cd and cd fehler. So my question is: How can I start my radio and turn off navigation? Or how can I use my radio. I pressed a lot of buttons and tried everything. It came twice back and I could have started the radio. But then it went back to navigation. And now I cant even get it back for a while. I uploaded also 2 pictures of it. Any help will be appreciated.

The navigation CD is in the trunk on the left side behind a panel. Remove the cover and eject the cd. Clean it and reinsert it. Or the CD drive could be bad and maybe a can of air duster can clean it out. Or the CD is bad and maybe if you searched the web you'd find a copy of it out there and could burn a new copy.

Thanks for the information. I think it has a laser problem. I cleaned the CD many times but no further progress. I would liket to cancel the navigation. I do not need it anymore. With GSM, offline navigations or online there will be no problem. Hence I would liket to have the audio mode if possible. Anyway thanks for answering.

You can try replacing the CD player. It may be hit or miss, but if you find one that's similar to what you have in the trunk, it may work and you don't need the exact same model. Also you could try blowing out the drive with a can of air duster and maybe that will clean out the laser. Otherwise I'm not sure, but it's possible that a optical bypass loop might also work on the navigation. They work on other components when they go bad. Search the old threads for the part number. The bypass loop isn't that expensive under $10.

Thanks for answering cetialpha5. I dont think the problem is clear. I tried different CD's. The problem is the same. I do not want to replace anything. I do not even want to use navigation or cd player. I would like to bypass navigation and listen only to radio. If this is not possible then I think Mercedes has created something that is sequential. This means if your navigation is not working nothing works even if all of the other systems are ok. So there is no modularity. Anyway, if it is not possible then it is not possible. Thanks anyway.
