2006 E320 CDI or 2017 Lexus NX

I currently have a Lexus NX but miss my CDI. I have an opportunity to buy a CDI with 130,000 miles. It has a panoramic roof which I know nothing about. Should I stay with a newer vehicle or should I switch back to the CDI. I’m not a mechanic. I’m just concerned about the age of the vehicle and other things about the interior falling apart anytime soon. I would not have depreciation and the insurance would be about half of what I pay now.

If you did own cdi, why did you sell it in first place?
Diesels are not for everybody, so there is no straight answer even if you compare vehicles from the same years.
11 years in today technology is like comparing rotary phone to new iPhone.

I thought I should have had a newer car, but now I regret parting with the CDI. This one that I am looking at has a piano roof that won’t open and the shade won’t close. I hear it’s either a cheap fix if you’re handy or it is very expensive. I think I’m going to have to pass just because of the roof. My old one just had a plain sunroof that I never used. This pano scares me. Sure wish I was a mechanic sometimes.

I believe there are lot of MB driven with roof fuses removed and gaps silicone.
I did own one of those in W124 body.
The only time I open moonroof is when I cruise Las Vegas Strip, what happens every few years, so I don't care about the option.
Manu fact, when we order new W163, we did order it without sunroof and with cloth interior. One of the best setup we ever had.
Coming to cdi, the engines are lovely for DIY, but since you are not one, I don't see much benefits in owning one.
Finding qualified diesel mechanic in this country is whole adventure, so getting new Lexus sounds like easy decision.
On the other hand I upgrade my diesels every few years and 4-cylinder Bluetec is amazing piece of machinery, beside W212 having all those radars and motion-sensing gizmos.
Than again, lot of owners love their cdi becouse there is not much to fail in those cars.
Some member went as far as buying 1980's era MB diesels to have primitive car that will never leave you stranded.
