Rust flakes in coolant

I had to replace the heater control valve, and accidentally did not secure one of the hoses properly. Upon taking it for a test drive and going less than a half mile, I dumped most of my coolant. Upon returning to my garage I secured the hose and filled the car back up with coolant. After returning from my second test drive and finding everything was intact, I noticed what appears to be some rust particles floating in my coolant... just a few, but a few none the less.

Is this worth worrying about/addressing? I can only guess that my "half flush" rattled some stuff loose that hadn't made its way to the reservoir til now. FWIW, I put almost a complete gallon of coolant 50/50 mix back in.

See below a pic of one of the flakes I managed to siphon out.

It can't be rust when it is floating.
I would investigate what exactly is it, even sending it to the lab
The coolant looks murky.
Did you overheat the engine?

The thermostat never said I was hot, not even the halfway mark. I didnt go very far at all.

It could possibly be some type of rubber or something along those lines. Maybe a piece from a seal somewhere?

I think it's debris which fell in something and cooked. It became loos when u refreshed the liquids.

Don't worry m8, as long it doesn't turn white like mayonaise ur good

I still would worry about murky color. Replacing aged coolant on those cars calls for replacing chem pack aka reservoir tank.
You can flush it couple times with Distillate Water and after proper refill be good for 15 years.

If this is a M272/M273 engine, I have seen this before. Those are small pieces from the oil filter housing gasket. Nothing to worry about.
