Exclamation Received Official MB SBC Recall Notification

Just an update on a previous thread (that I can no longer find), way to go search engine!!!

I received my official MB recall notification for the SBC problem. The notification confirms that it is just a SW update that is required. It also states that if the fault does occur you get a warning on the multi-function screen and an acoustic warning, the brake pedal travel increases too.

I'm glad it's here. I've been wating for it so I can get the MP3 update done too.

You're wish is my command.

Sorry for the crap image quality. I don't have time just now to play about with it.

Second image is a bit clearer but has no letterhead.

Hi Fastbuck,
We are doing the exact same thing. The 'boss' has an appointment for 11am this Wednesday (14th) for both updates.

I just asked my local dealer here in El Paso about the SCB recall. He said there will be a software update to solve the problem, no update out so far! He showed me an email that there is still no update available in the US.

Wife took the car in at 11am, had BOTH upgrades MP3 and the SBC upgrade installed and was out of the dealership by Mid-day.

I am now off to burn a 'few' Mp3's

I asked my dealer about any possible SBC recalls in the US and they told me that this SBC issue was only for high mileage cars such as taxis. That is why they did it in Europe and that they couldn't discriminate between taxi and non-taxi so they just recalled them all. I then asked them why they had a SBC recall in Japan where there are no W211 taxis but they had no response to that.

My car HIGH MILEAGE, My car a TAXI....

This is a present for 'she that must be obeyed' and so far it has done 2,226 miles in six months.

The SBC recall does mention high mileage vehicles and taxis, but Mercedes-Benz has issued a general recall. Through experience we know that different countries have adopted different policies, so we cannot comment on what the US policy will be, but from what I gather the recall is being applied in the UK to ALL 211's. It is just taking time to implement.

Anyone want a taxi?????

Regards

Just imagine the size of the legal claim you could achieve in the US if you had a SBC derived accident. They recalled them in every other market other than US. Not a leg to stand on!!!!!
