Service C or D

You wouldn't happen to have a list of the services performed for C and D by any chance, would you? Also, I am curious how the FSS decides which service is appropriate. I have an E500 wagon with 7575 miles, and the computer says that the C service is called for in approximately 4,000 miles, even though I have not had the A or B service. (I did change the oil at 5,000 miles, though, if that is relevant.)

Unfortunately I don’t have details for C & D services. I would suggest contacting mbtech208 who moderates the tech forum - https://mbworld.org/forums/search.php?searchid=17503

FSS evaluates engine temperature, oil level, vehicle speed, engine speed, and distance driven created by your individual driving style.

Can an owner change the oil sooner than calculated by the FSS? Absolutely, the FSS be reset if more frequent oil changes are done - the instructions are in the Owner's Manual.

There is a menu that you can access that will explain to you what C service is.. How to get there, it is in your manual..

My service advisor said Service C = Service A, and Service B = Service D. True?

Instructions are listed on pg 279 the (2003) Operator's Manual. Calling up the service item menu:

Switch ignition on
Go to std display (outside temperature)
Choose FSS PLUS
Press reset knob (used for resetting the odometer)for 5 seconds
SERVICE MENU appears
Select ITEMS
Press menu button
The service items to be carried out are shown
Numbered items are detailed in the Serevice Booklet

KShortill-

When you got your oil changed at 5000, how did that work with your free scheduled maintenance (fsm) since you performed this early?

I have the fsm, however, I just want to get my oil changed before 10,000. I presume I'll pay for the early oil change, but I want to make sure the other 10,000mi checks will be done at same point had I not completed the early oil change.

I just got a advertising flyer from the MB dealer in the neighborhood for a Lube Oil & Filter on a V8 E class which included a few "check this, look at that" BS items "included"... $169.95 USD

$169 seems high an oil change. Even by MB, so there must a lot other checks. Precision MB & Porsche in W. Atlantic City is advertising a free brake check, fwiw.

Lubricate throttle linkage? Check this/Check that? 169 is pretty healthy for a Lube/Oil/Filter! But at least its only every 15000 miles.
