For the M272 engine in the 2006, it's easier to just replace the alternator. You have to remove the alternator anyway to replace the regulator and it's about $180+ from Autozone for the reman Bosch alternator and that has a lifetime warranty. Even if you replace the regulator, the brushes or the bearings in the alternator could later go so you're not saving too much and you're just going to have additional problems with it later as other parts of the alternator go.
