e500 4matic
new wheels for e500 4 matic-question

big question-
can you mount staggered rims on a 4matic?
i have a set of 17 inch amg's with new snows from my last car
a c36 amg.staggered with deep lip in rears, i want to mount them
for winter purposes, but have heard conflicting reports on 4matics not
allowing staggered set up. has anyone heard of this, or has anyone
upgraded their wheels with staggered rims? help appreciated, wise answers tolerated, thanks!!!

On some models of 4matic, staggered setup has been allowed (such as W210 E55 4matic). I am unsure of the suggestions for the W211, and think that you will have to check your owner's manual.

I would not suggest it though. Since the W210 E55 was designed to have a staggered setup, the computer may be set to deal with this. On the W211, it is not the original setup, and it may not deal properly with that situation.

Not to mention, the rolling diameter of your C36 tires are probably a little on the small side for a W211.

Finally, the tip that you probably won't hear from anyone else, because you didn't ask: the 14mm lugs of the W211 will no way no how go through the holes intended for 12mm lugs on the OEM C36 AMG wheels without drilling.

(Besides, if you think that the rear wheel has a deep lip... you need to spend some time on some wheel sites.)

e500 4matic
thanks scorchie......but
the rims in question are the 5 star amgs and not the stock c36 monoblocs
they were purchased on ebay and were stated to fit c,e, and clk's when i got them and they popped right on the c36.they look like the wheels available on the amg package available currently for non 4matic amg package. the snows haven't been purchased yet.
so rolling diameter is not the issue......let me rephrase question

does the w211 4matic allow for staggered rims..?
has anyone done this yet?

I know you don't want to hear this, but "stated to fit c,e, and clk's" means "E-class W210" not W211 because the fitment is different.

Anyhow... to tell you what you want to hear: Yes! I've done it and it works great, with those same Styling III rims you have.
