A tree fell in front of my car during a bad storm and screwed up the front end pretty good. I took it to a generic body shop and it's going to be at least $6,000 to get it fixed. Does anybody think I would get a better deal at a Mercedes dealer? I can replace the car with the same model and all for about the same price as it would cost me to fix it. It may sound silly but the car has sentimental value with me, as I bought it with my inheritance from my parents estate. I consider it their Parting Gift To Me. Other than that damage in the front the car runs great and looks great it's the best car ever had I don't know whether they try to sell it for parts or just get it fixed any suggestions
Stealers don't have body shops - they subcontract the jobs to other shops.
Your best bet is start a search on local JY for body parts. Headlights are plenty on ebay. Windshields are not too expensive and you can make insurance claim.
Bumper looks gluable to me and KrazyGlue does the wonder.
The bottom two pictures are from when I clipped a deer and then the rest of the pictures are one from the tree fell on it. Yeah the body shop I took it to wants $6,000 and that's not counting anything they might find. I really love the car it's best I ever had and the fastest car i ever had. I think I'm just going to sell the body shop to fix it and whatever it cost it cost
Ouch! I’m sorry for what you’re going through. I love the w211. However, i told myself a long time ago not to get “attached” to a car. It just becomes a money pit the longer you keep it. That’s what made me decide to get some form of jewelry with my inheritance money.
You have a tough decision to make... my opinion is to cut your losses now, and spend the +/-$6k on something that you can pass down as an heirloom. Unless, this was a 300 SL Gullwing, I wouldn’t keep it.
