Auxillary Heating and Ventilation System
SOmeone asked me before about the stationary heater or auxillary heater. I just finished mine on my c320. Pics on the C forum. DO a search with my user name or stationary heater or auxillary heater. The same can be done to the E class.

It looks like a great feature though although $2000...

Sunman:
That was me who originally asked about the heater. You did a really nice installation. I put one in our VW Eurovan, and it is the best mod I have done to date. MB uses a Webasto Thermotop C. Where did you tap into the fuel system? Was the car prewired? Thanks.

the fuel tap is the easiest thing. There is a spare nipple on the tank which is not connected. Just cut the top off and you'll get a gusher of fuel coming out. Car is NOT prewired for this feature but wiring was not too bad. Everything was plug and play. No cutting or splicing to be done. I will try and take more pictures later of the acutal unit. This is a wonderful feature. Installation was time consuming and I did it in stages. Not for the weak at heart. I have WIS so it was easy since they have a whole RETROFIT section for the heater complete with all details of the install. I won't be able to activate the heater till winter though since it will not turn on in the summer. Too hot already.

Install time
How long did it take you to install the webasto parking heater? I am quite amazed by your photos and integration into your computer system.
Also is there an hour figure on the "Book" showing how long it would take a mercedes mechanic to do the install?
Would any MB dealer mech. in the USA be willing to do such an install?

Really nice installation. Fortunately, your system is something I can file along with snow tires, block heaters, ice scrapers, road salt, parkas and mittens ... in the "things I don't need because it doesn't get below freezing here" file. I admire you Frost Belt people, I really do, for your fortitude in continuing to live where you do. Adversity builds character. Besides, California already has 36,000,000 people.

looks like we will be doing levind's heater this Dec or Jan. I will post pics and keep everyone updated. Being a diesel, it's even better. there is even a heater booster mode for diesel cars as they take a long time to heat up.
