Please, what are my options for programming SRS module?
If I am correct, is my only option to fix this is to buy a new srs module from a dealership and to have them program it to my car? The car passed emissions and drove wonderfully. Other than a few cosmetics, this is my only issue.
Thanks!
let them know you have a vin mismatch and supply them with the correct vin that the scanner gives you, as this is the one that the car recognises if different than the cars vin

Also, for safety concerns, any idea if the current mismatch vins will prevent the airbags from deploying? Asking if I was able to pass inspection with it because I do intend to use this as a family car. I won't if there are concerns about this not working.
Thanks!
The dealership will not re-code the vin, they will sell you a new one and code it to your car $1000+, been there, done that.
I would do a ring around to some other places that reset airbags, as not all know how to do the vin, and you know what its like they dont tell anyone else when they figure it out, as they want to be the only one making money from it.
Even if you can find one that will virginise the module so it can be re-coded to the car
SRS is a safety thing, if you are going for a inspection they will check to see if it come on with the ignition and turn off after the car is started, to show that the system is working, removing the globe will not help.
Dont pull the globe out or wire it into another light as suggested, this is a very poor suggestion and can come with a jail sentence if you are found to be the one who tampered with the SRS in the event of a accident, not to mention that its not the way to sort a problem like this.
You can use a star to do it but pretty sure they have to log on to Mercedes to be able to do it, I am having similar issues with a much later model car and will have no choice but to go there and have them do it
take a read off the srs and determine what the fault might be, it could be something simple like a loose connection to a component.
