Should i leave transmission on c or s

I don’t know if I should keep my transmission in c or s, i feel like with s my car goes from start better than c and shifts smoother ,and what are the difference between s and c?

Comfort mode starts in 2nd gear and has different shift points. Standard mode starts in 1st gear and shifts quicker. Comfort is better for winter driving as you're less likely to spin your wheels when accelerating from a stop in snow when starting in 2nd.

Something to note when in C is the fact that while it does start out in second gear, if you push harder on the go pedal it'll drop into first. Sometimes not all that smoothly.

Mine never has dropped to first when in comfort. You can smash it to the floor and it will just roach off the line in second gear.

My E63 would drop into first if you got into from a stop and ****ing go when in comfort mode. I rarely used the sport mode since 1st gear is kind of annoying with the E63 and normal driving.

As far back as my 1988 190E-2.3, the transmission started out in second gear. If you pressed the accelerator HARD into the floormat, it would very abruptly jump down into first, wind out hard, then chirp the tires when shifting into second. You had to press down really hard on the gas to get to first gear, unless you selected it manually.

Fast forward to my 2015 E400. In the E, there is a definite feel of an electronic push-button switch at the bottom of the gas pedal. Try it with the engine off. Push all the way down, you should feel a distinct button at the bottom, which can be pressed down another 1/4 inch or so. If you press this button when the car is in motion, the transmission will immediately switch to sport mode and downshift to the lowest gear practical for the vehicle speed. Hang onto your hat, though, because it will accelerate hard when you do this.

Can't speak to the 2015, but on my '05 the "electronic push-button" at the bottom of the go pedal is nothing more than a spring loaded bump built into the accelerator pedal to make you think it's gonna kick down a gear. It is connected to not a thing. I'm sure the position at which you feel it is well programmed into the ECU and TCU though.

I leave mine in C, hoping it'll keep shift points low, as they're high enough I feel. But I will say, it kicks down to first nearly instantaneously at green lights with no hesitation in this 08 4matic, but the pedal goes to the floor immediately also.
