hit a pothot now i'm feeling a vibration
If the wheel is out of spec, I'd replace it. IMHO, trying to repair a bent alloy wheel is a poor choice, as it can never be made as strong as new again.
It's also possible that you damaged only the tire - broke the belt, or some such. A competent tire shop will dismount the tire and check both the wheel and the tire.
Good luck.
There's one way to be sure what kind of a problem you have.
Find a shop that has a Hunter GSP 9700 machine, and the operator will be able to tell you exactly what your problem is, whether it be a bent, out-of-round or untrue rim, or tire damage such as inner belt problems within the tire, whatever.
No guess work here. It's worth going to the Hunter Engineering site to read all about this system.

This site has a locator feature also. Simply enter your Zip code and the distance you are willing to travel, and you're there.

I don't know where in New Jersey he is, but . . . ?
It doesn't really matter because wherever he needs to go, it'll be well worth it. I've seen some pretty difficult problems cleared up so easily by that machine. I've been to their training centers in MO as well as the local one here in the L A area in Sante Fe Springs. Worth the trouble to go to if anyone has the chance.
Punched up 08601, and within 50 miles, Hunter lists 199 sights that have the GSP 9700.
