Am I obsessed?
Ok, here's the deal...I bought my E320 CDI about 2 months ago.. I am in love. No issues currently with the car. I love evrything about this car as this is something I have worked hard for several years. The problem I find is that i am becoming obsessed with my car. Keep in mind, I have always loved cars, but this is passion. Let me qualify; I detailed the car with Klasse AIO, SG. Every night I wipe it down, QD it and then stare. Weird. My wife has "caught" me several times staring at my car (personally I think she's jealous LOL). I find excuses to go for a drives all the time. And, I find myself checking this website every day. Is this normal or am i taking on a personality disorder? Let me know

Haahaha I think you are obessed. I wiped my windows the first week i got it, never did ever since. Currently 3 bird poo stains and counting, I need to wash it bad. But I too check this web site everyday.

Wipe the bird crap off immediately! Actually, you can be the guinea pig to determine whether the nano clearcoat is more resistant
As for obsession, I think all of us on this board are a little obsessed. At least until the newness wears off!

I am obsessed also but this happens with every car I own. Even the week before I sold my 5 series I was polishing it and cleaning it up. It is funny because I never clean my wife's Lexus but I constantly clean mine. It is stress relief to me and a hobby (plus it never hurts to look good in a clean benz...).

I know exactly how you are. I am insane like you. People wait for me to want to sell my car to them when I am done with it because if you didn't look at the odometer, you would think it had just been unloaded from the car carrier & not yet titled. The car I traded in on this '04 E was an 02 Deville DHS, on which I had left the original sheet of foam wrapping secured by tape, covering the rear seat (female) seat belt buckles, just the way it left the factory.
I keep every maintenance slip, receipt, and at least 3 dealer brochures on the car. God help me.

Lol. I get the same complaints from my wife. Moreso for being on this website though. I don't have the time to express any obsession w/ cleaning the car that often.
I am getting sick though: I'm getting the mod bug. My whip is straight factory right now: straight as 9:15 know what I mean? My wife doesn't like that either.

I find myself telling my wife about things I read here and I can see the blank stare come across her face.. Hehe.. Geez..
Anyways. I have found myself sitting in the garage at night in my car.. Just sitting there.. hehe..
On a related note. I went and looked at some Ferrari's this past weekend (just messing around - I am not getting one). There were a lot of old and new cars. The common thing between all of these nice cars is this. The mileage on these cars was all under 20,000 km but the inside looks like it had over 500,000 km. Why, the only reason I can think is that these guys never drove their car. Might have 1000 engine hours on it but from sitting inside it, they looked like they had 100,000 hours. It was so weird..

I can soooo relate to what everyone has said.... So much so that I had the ol'lady sit down and read this thread in its entirety and she quickly responded..... " I and all others on this site need to get a life".

Whew,
And I thought I was going nuts. I do think it is the newness of it all however, as previously mentioned, when I sold my other car it looked like it just came off the line. Yes, I kept the original brochure, all my receipts, maintenance logs and even made some notes to the new owner on my favourite charcteristics of my previous car. Good to know I'm not alone
Happy Motoring!
BTW, Good idea having the DW read this thread. I will "indoctrinate" her tonight. Resistance is futile.

Yeah, its kind of like the glazed over look women get when you walk them into a jewelery store & tell them you're there to get them something! Ask a woman if she didn't keep her engagement ring box, or an expensive watch box in a drawer somewhere. An EMPTY BOX!

My wife complains that I spend too much time on this site as well
She is right -- you spend too much time in your cars, for example, your unbelievable shining e500. (I wonder how many hours you have to spend on cleaning/waxing it. by the way, may I ask what brands of waxes you used)

Whenever my wife sees me surfing the MBWorld site it's always something like "You and your other Mercedes dorks having fun?" She just doesn't get it. There are many many other vices I could take up.......
That plus the fact that I constantly wash the car has her shaking her head. But I can't stop!!

You are attracted to a 4-door sedan with engine suitable for a light truck (I like light trucks). A car that is used as a taxicab in some parts of the world.
Buy yourself a sports car (like an S2000 or Lotus Elise), or a hotrod ('34 Ford with a 434 small block Chevy, maybe 750hp with NOx) or maybe a classic (XKE Series 1, XK120/140, maybe an old Ferrari).

No, we are not nuts We simply like to keep these beauties like new! I even keep a "swiffer" cloth in my glove box so I can remove dashboard dust while I'm waiting for red lights. Go figure.

Someone's mother may be a good cook. That doesn't make her an object of passion!
If the front seat is similar to a fancy lounge chair...that is a comfortable seat. Not an object of passion.
An object of passion should rock your soul from its mounts. Should transport you someplace your not but want to be.
A Ferrari GTO? Passion. Even a Tempest GTO: passion. Maybe an E55.
