Dead Battery, Trunk key won't work. How to get in trunk???

I've looked for youtube videos, I can't find a way to get my trunk open to change my battery! I'd rather not have to pay a locksmith, though I think my insurance might cover "road side assistance" and bring someone out? Any ideas, surely others have had this issue??

If you have not already done so try mechanical key - turn clockwise (2) and remove. Reinsert, turn counterclockwise (1) and remove.

This might be a long shot but some 211's came with an opening between trunk & passenger side rear seat backrest....also an opening in center armrest of rear seat with a long sleeve for passing through snowskis from trunk into passenger compartment. A long pole or rod could then pull down trunk release from inside maybe. If you have split rear seat you can actually crawl into trunk from passenger side, the opening is large. It's a rare feature but some do have it.

That seems extremely sketchy! I might try a cigarette lighter charger. Enough juice to possibly unlock trunk

The video posted is sketchy af, but may be the way to go. I was in the same spot a few weeks back when my car sat while I waited for my intake to get rebuilt.

If you have to go this route, jut use smaller attachments to a trickle charger to reach that post.

I went back to my key inside the key fob one last time and realized I didn't put the actual key far enough up the key cylinder in the back.

Give this another try.

1. Remove the mechanical key from the SmartKey or push down on the mechanical (if you have the original SmartKey from the vehicle)
2. Insert that mechanical key into the lock where you press to open the trunk.
3. Trunk is open.

Make sure to put some pressure on the key and turn fully until you hear it click...

Keep us posted. Good luck.

the guy in the video called the mechanical key, located in the read of the FOB, a valet key, but my mechanical key unlocks the trunk and unlocks the glove box, areas you don’t want a valet to have access to.
