Calbenzo. Mike at EVOSPORT told me the way the underdrive is achieved is because the light weight pulley... the pulley size are the same... I questioned at the time how 10 lbs lighter in weight can make a 8-10 hp increase... all the Mercedes Benz specialized shops told me the same thing..
I talked to EUROREV people.. they said.. changing the pulley will knock off the balance and cause engine problem in the long run(after a year or 2) I don't know if that's true or not. 3rd, now that you have the parts.. you can clearly tell that they are aftermarket modification parts?? shoot.... that's not good. have you touch it yet??! Wait!! I thought we are all gonna get it together!!
I had purchased the pulleys day after I initially posted, so unfortunately that was before any discussion of the group buy. As for the lighter weight, these pulleys are small, and there is no way they could collectively remove one pound, let alone 10 lbs. (more like ounces). Anyway, if it is a weight reduction, then the units are misnamed since a weight reduction alone will not cause any "underdrive" per se.

ones too fast according to CHP!
As I stated above, the pulleys are not the same size. They are slightly larger. This is how the underdrive is acheived. I think that there was a misunderstaning.

Also, you will not void your warranty with pulleys, that is illegal as per the Magnusson Moss Federal Warranty Act. There is also no long term harm - no worries of balance, these are perfectly balanced. That is just a competitor trying to do what some competitors do - give false information to try to stop you from buying what they don't sell. If they claim that, ask them to speak to their engineer that can support that comment. :v

Realize, pulleys are not new science. They have been used since the earlies days of US hot-rodding. This is a very old trick, we were just the first to apply it to Mercedes.

Thanks

Brad

Well I'm 100 percent in. How do we make the purchase?

I will be out of town this week (leaving Wednesday 11th evening) and my not have internet access (I'm still looking for a hotel).

What is the final price after the discounts and shipping (I'm on the east coast)?

Thanks to the person that did all the leg-work for this.

BTW, I have a 1998 C280 (V6 of course). I can't wait for my extra 12 HP in first gear!

C280Sportster,

You should check out this thread for the group buy:

https://mbworld.org/forum/r170/board/home.html

Unfortunately I missed it, but nothing that I'm too bummed about.

Missed what, I couldn't find anything. I don't think you can link to a certain message over there. What was it?

I meant that I missed the group buy since I had already just purchased the pulley set.

guys

I talked to Mike a Evosports. he said once we get 10 people he will give us the discount. so let's gather everyone's contact info.
Also I talked to a dealer (auto steigler in Encino) the shop forman said changing the pulley won't void the warranty. But he does't think it's worth spending money for only 5% gain... OH well. Oh, you can also bring the kit to the dealer, they will install it. $$$ but for a peace of mind.
