Braking during cruise control.
I read that the 2005 now have braking during cruise control.
Does antone know if this is a software update that is available for the 2004 MY?
I think this would be great..

Do you mean that the cruise control wouldn't automatically disengage after application of the brakes? That doesn't sound like such a swell idea to me. One usually applies the brakes to go slower, not maintain a fixed speed, and if I apply the brakes, I don't want the cruise control disagreeing with me on that point.

Yeah, it is for when going down hills.. I would love it if when you pushed the speed control down if you went to a lower threshold then what the transmission could do to slow it down then it would apply the brakes.
That way I could drive with the stalk only..

If I tap the cruise control stalk down to lower speed while cruising it effectively works like a brake- Is this the same thing?

'05 E500 4-Matic Wagon
According to the 05 E wagon owners manual, both rear wheel and 4WD 05 Es use downshifting to slow a car when descending a hill. But, also according to the owners manual, the application of the brakes is only available to rear wheel drive cars, not the 4-matics. Just relaying what I read.

Yeah. That is what I heard as well. I would like to have that feature. If anyone finds out that it is a matter of programming, let me know. I am sure that it is, although will they add it to 04's (I doubt it).
