2008 mercedes e300 (w211)
2008 e300

hi guys after saving up for a while i managed to pick up a 2008 mecedes e300 silver with 185,000km (roughly 115,000miles) and my initial research about the car i didnt read about the balance shaft sproket issue and just came to know about it , but decoding my vin showed that i have engine #: M - engine: 272944 30 976458 272.944 which by the little research i did showed that it was out of the range of effected engine?

#1 my question here is even if its out of range do you think my car will have issue's in the future? its a one owner car picked it up from a dealer who was the second owner didn't get any service history on it though
#2 i have an occasional tick in the engine only at idle! it goes tick tick tick sometimes and sometimes it doesn't but only at idle"" i will get a video later today when i take it in for safety

other than being extremly paranoid now about the m272 engine i absolutely love this car coming form a bmw e60 owner i feel like its more comfortable down the road and smoother.

Not too many reports of balance shaft issues with the 2008. Lately most report problems with the intake manifold which is known to go, the flaps or levers/rods break causing poor performance at either high or low rpm depending on what setting the flaps break at.
