Scorchie - How do you adjust the trunk springs? Mine barely stays up after opening. (I know - sounds like a personal problem) I've been bumped in the head a couple of times. Thanks!!

Adjustment is pretty easy. Remove the bottom liner from the trunk. Remove the four cargo hold downs, they are each held in by a Torx T20 screw. Then the side liners are also held in by two spreading rivets on each side, near the top. Finally, remove the plastic liner for the back of the trunk, by removing all the square spreading rivets (pop out the top using a small flat screwdriver). Keep all the parts together in a tray or bag. After working the back plastic piece out, check to make sure that your trunk side liners are not held in by nuts to the taillights. I've seen several cars now where an additional nut was installed OVER the trunk liner, to the taillight. Weird.
Now remove the side liners of the trunk, and you should see the springs that travel horizontally to the trunk arms. They are fastened in one of several holes, the forward most being the least powerful, the rear most giving the most lift. Grab the body of the spring and pull it back to release it, and then install it in a new hole farther back.
Both sides do not have to be in the same hole, you can fine tune it by moving one side one more hole than the other. But keep them within one hole of each other.
Reassemble in reverse order, make sure you put all the spreading rivets back in!

scorchie,
While we are talking about trunks, and I have actually bought the car, have you resolved the electronic way to disable the trunk lock?
