Caliper Bracket Bolt - Size/Thread ?

Hey guys...

My caliper bracket bolt came off while driving the other day.... Pulled over and checked it out. I need a new bolt for the bottom as the original is long gone now. Does anyone know the size and thread pitch etc so that I can match the bolt and get the car back up and running?

Thanks in advance!

Best bet is to take the other one off and go to the hardware store to see if they have one that matches. I'd recommend getting a grade 10.9 bolt for that.

But my first choice would be calling up your closest dealership and seeing if they have one. I think they get $2.50 for them.

Good call, thanks for the advice. I ended up going to a junkyard I work near and was able to grab one off the only w211 they had. And everything appears back to normal.

For the 211 series there are two mounting types. One uses M12 bolts (the most common) and the other uses M14 bolts. Both have a self locking design that should prevent any vibration back out if properly torqued. If damaged due to over-torquing or any other suspected impact, it should be replaced with a new one.
The M12 bolt is A 124 421 05 71 and is torqued 115NM. The M14 version has different torque procedure depending on the model - some are a flat 180NM and some are a three step torque 80NM + 180 degrees + 45 degrees. I did not look up that part number.
Would not hurt to use an EPC on your vin to make sure.what ones are needed.

New factory bolts comes with blue thread locker applied.

fcpeuro sells the factory Mercedes M12 bolt for about $6, so I would expect if you go to the dealer they will hit you for at least $15...

I think the bigger issues is how that bolt came out. If properly torqued it should never happen. I would check all of them, and I would replace that junkyard one with a new one - you have no idea if it was ever over-torqued or in an accident.
