I have the Pilot Alpines. As I said, they seem fine.

Winter Tires for E500??
What are people doing for winter tires. I think I may just put snows on my stock wheels or maybe try to find a used set of '03 E500 wheels or E320 wheels for dedicated snows. Need to start thinking about this I guess. I have an 04 E500.

I was very pleased with the snow and non-snow performance of Dunlop M2s. I got them just before the M3s became available. You might want to wait until the fall before doing anything, since apparently Tirerack expects some new models to be available and will review them. You should, by the way, check the tire forum here.

I would definitely recommend the Wintersport M2's. I got through a winter with all seasons on my 540 but experienced some slipping and sliding at stop lights. The M2's took care of that last winter. They have very good wet traction and are fine most days of the winter when the streets are dry. They're a tiny bit noiser, but it isn't very noticeable.

Can't just say Michelin. There is a new Michelin, the PA2. Or are you talking about the older Pilot Alpine?
According to Tire Rack, there will be several new snows before the winter. Previously, Bridgestone (LM22), Dunlop (Wintersport M2 and M3), Pirelli (SnowSport 210 and 240), and the Michelin where picks of the litter. As with many hear, I have used the Dunlop M2s (on 3 different cars) with excellent results. I think they are better summer tire than the ContiTouring Contacts.
