This is bizarre - bought a 2005 E320 recently in cherry condition (56k miles) and love it after some rear air suspension replacement (darn Airmatic). Everything works great - but one thing. The interior remote trunk release switch on the driver door makes the driver window go down (without stopping). I can pop the trunk remotely with the Smartkey, so that works fine. When it is open, the small red light on the interior remote trunk release lights up, as it should. But that door switch does not pop the trunk - it makes the driver window go down. Process of elimination - the fuses for the trunk must be fine since it opens (pops) with the Smartkey just fine. How on earth that trunk release switch makes the driver window go down is a mystery.

Any ideas - has anyone seen this before?

Pull liner to check wiring & door control module. S15/3 = trunk switch, S20/1 = window switch block. Here are compatible part #s if DCM should need replacement.

Thanks a ton! Will be doing that this weekend. A DCM looks like an easy replacement; it's just the logic that this trunk release switch somehow got turned into a window-down control that makes me giggle.
