Power steering fluid Colour

I likes to change my power steering fluid on my 2006 E500 so I just purchased 2 quarts ($ 20 per Quart) of power steering fluid from a shop who sells OEM Mercedes and BMW parts only. When I opened the bottle it is like a light brown colour oil however I was reading on the others posts that the power steering fluid colour is Green when it is new.

It is a Mercedes Benz bottle. it says Power steering oil and steering Gear Lubricant on it. I believe it shows the part # Q 146 0001.

Please confirm it is the right oil as I do not want to change it if it is not the right oil.

Actually correct power steering fluid is Q1460001 (light yellow), Pentosin Q1320001 (green) is for vehicles with active body control suspension (ABC) check this thread http://www.benzworld.org/forums/c219...ype-power.html

Wow really? I was given the green ps fluid and flushed my system with it - 2003 e500. Original fluid was yellow. Will that give me problems? Should u reflush with the yellow?

I am not sure if my vehicle has ABC suspension or not so I will contact dealer tomorrow to confirm however my existing fluid does look like light brown (Thanks Konigstiger).

MercFiveHundred, I believe you should do the same thing and reflush the fluid with proper fluid if required.

I bought the fluid recommended in the 2007 MB Factory Approved Service Products. It recommended Pentosin Q132-0001 for W211. Nothing mentioned about ABC. Look at your thread again -- it recommends Pentosin CHF-11S, Q132-0001 for the W211.

Mine looked light brown after 100K miles. The new CHF-11S that I used looks light brown after 6-7K miles.

I just called 2 dealers and give them my Vin #, one dealer said I need green colour which is $ 35/ liter and other dealer said I need the light yellow colour $22/ liter. I just Called Mercedes Canada and the lady said as per manual I should put the Pentosin CHF-11S. It is confusing.

“To put the wrong fluid in a non ABC car is not the end of the world but to put the wrong fluid into an ABC system is a disaster waiting to happen.”

211 does not have ABC cost is the deciding factor.

I would also assume that if you're just "topping off" that you shouldn't mix fluid types ?

Well, this is embarrassing. I can't find the maintenance manual for my car.

I just checked the fluid level in the garage @ 32° F, engine cold and off, and it doesn't touch the dipstick at all.

I believe I will be calling my parts store on Monday to change my fluid to MB part # BQ 1320001 as there was service bulletin PB-46.00/44 that W211 must use Pentosin CHF 11S. Please see the attached pdf of the post # 3 of this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/mercedes-...d-special.html

@servicetech...that pdf is from 2006 and has been superseded per Konigstiger info in above posts. Also depends on whether you're doing a complete flush or just changing out the reservoir fluid a couple of times.

The document on that forum also says for CHF 11 S. This is just so confusing and frustrating that 1 dealer and Mercedes Canada says Pentosin and other 2 dealers said the Q 146001.

I will be doing the flush by removing the fluid from the reservoir. fill it up and turn the steering lock to lock 5 times and re do this again, I am planning to do this 3 times.

I flush my power steering fluid with Q 1460001. I flushed it by disconnecting the fluid return pipe from the reservoir. I used almost 2 liters of power steering fluid. power steering feels much better now.
Thanks Konigstiger and others for their input and help.

Just to add a bit of data, I flushed my 06 w211 with CHF 11s and now 2 years later I have a small leak in both ends.
No leaks before that, I would stick with standard yellow fluid if doing it again. (Not necessarily causality but at the very least the more expensive fluid didn't help)

Hello I know this is old, but it didn't seem to be answered correctly.

211 follows MB Spec 345.0 Which is the blue can of Pentosin CHF 11S

Here are the documents to prove it. I was actually was looking for 164 ML's fluid as it has contradicting info and I stumbled onto this. ABC isn't even an option on a 211, but it is also used on ABC cars for the suspension fluid and power steering fluid since it's a tandem pump.

The 202 is the newer version of CHF 11S, the difference being a touch extra silicone anti-foam. This is why CHF 11S is commonly used and "specified" in same cases.

This says 11S meets spec 345.0:

http://www.pentosin.net/pressrelease...luid_Guide.pdf

If you are topping off, use 11S NO PROBLEM. If doing a full flush, get the 202, the "blue can"...

I already have a can of 11S, so I'm just going to use that in my W209, 2006 is near the time the 202 came out. I'm just doing a gradual change w/a turkey baster.

I drain the fluid directly by removing the Banjo Bolt on the rear, passenger-side of the steering rack, then turn the wheel full lock left and right a few times to push out all of fluid.
