Cool mileage restriction on MB loaner cars...no joke

I take my car in for a C service and to fix some annoying gliches like left audio cutout at high volumes, broken fog bulbs and no rear ac...

In any case the policy on my loaner car ( brand new ML350) is 75 Miles per day limit..which i think is absurd...anyone else ever hear of this??

Not that i drive that much in a day, but its not much mileage...are they gonna pro rate my lease for every day its been in the shop??? its been there for four days....

thought you all might get a laugh out of that...

I feel you. It's the principle.

75 miles is likely more than your lease per diem, right (75x30=2250mi)?

Just had the car in for a couple of days for an HK issue. They rented me a Tahoe. It was kind of fun driving that beast around. No issues with mileage. (other than fuel mileage)

The MB service department in Wilsonville, OR has a limit of 100 miles per day. I don't really know what happens if you go over, but it would not surprise me if they charged you because their rentals are generally through Hertz.

I'd have an issue if I lived a ways from my dealer. I admit I'm surprised an East coast corridor dealership does this. There's only so far you can go.

I have my car serviced at Mercedes Benz of Westwood - always offered fairly nice rentals (ML, newer C or older E class) but there is a restriction of 100 free miles per day, otherwise there's a mileage fee. I usually don't come close, so I can't say what they would do if I did go over the 100 miles. My car was actually in last week for some upgrades and brake work, and they needed to keep it until Saturday to finish - I had plans to drive up to Maine and they said don't worry about it - it was their fault the car wasn't ready. So they certainly seem reasonable about it! FYI - overall I'm very happy with the folks at Westwood - bought the car there and will continue to have it serviced there as well.

My dealership has a fleet of toyota camry's so I doubt I will have restrictions (haven't had it in for a planned service appointment yet). I wish we had MB loaners because I would love to test driving another benz for a whole day...

When I had my car in for the "Initial Visit" service, I got a C-class loaner with a 100 mi/day limit. The dealership said that they took into accout the distance of my commute as well as the distance to the dealship, so I suppose if I lived further out of town, I would have been given a higher limit. My car was ready later that day so I came nowhere near the mileage limit on the loaner.

I've only had my car in once and got a free Buick loaner. I don't remember anything being said about a mileage limit, but my round trip to the dealer is about 50-60 miles alone. Like most things, you may be able to negotiate for more mileage if you think you'll need it. It may be that they put a mileage limit on it to force people to discuss the topic before they decide to take the loaner on a long trip!

Whichever one is available (1 of 5)
There used be no mileage limit in Atlanta local MB dealers until just this year. I was told 100 miles per day limit. Tha't wouldn't get me to work and home in a day. I guess too many customers drive new loaners, then return in a couple of days with 300-600 miles (trip to the beach).

My dealer here in CT loans Camrys also. No mileage restrictions but they do ask you to refill the gas tank, that's all.

Took my w211 (4200 miles) in for service (on Monday) at the Bethesda, MD dealership where I bought it. Provided a list of 16 items to look at, including pulling to the right, and steering wheel shimmy.

loaner car: 2004 ML350;
current mileage: 7700;
no mention of mileage restrictions, neither verbally nor on the paperwork;
one way trip to delear is about 40 miles

I've had the loaner for 3 days.. spoke with the service advisor.. was told not to worry about mileage.

Hey PaulHu - live in Atlanta also...what dealer do you go to? I go to Atlanta Classic in Duluth. Have NEVER had anyone say anything about mileage. Just put gas in where you got it. If you aren't going there..you might want to consider it.
