EZ Exit...I think I've got it.

1. You turn the car off & remove the key, or kill the engine with "Keyless Go" button.
2. You DO NOT open the door at this time.
3. Depending on cluster programming, the wheel moves up & the seat goes back to a factory predetermined exit setting, or you manually move the seat back to a comfortable exit position*.
4. Now open the door, exit & lock the car.
5. Upon unlocking the door & reinserting the ignition key, the wheel & seat will return (may pause along the way as the computer is used for other items briefly) to the memorized driving positions.

If I move the seat with the car shut down & the door already open, the EZ exit feature will not return my seat to the driving position when I return to the car. I must then press & hold the #1 driver memory button on the door.

* I have found that I must do this exit seat moving manually, because to the best of my understanding, my normal driving position is already at or beyond MBs factory pre-set exit position, so there's no reason for the module to have it move backward.

Do I have this straight?

Just when ya think you're a genius... Sometimes the damn seat forgets to go back to the drive position on startup. It'll skip this start, & if I forget to move it into the drive position, it will move it back into drive position at the next start up!

Now what?

Do you think most people use this option? It doesn't seem to help me out a whole lot.

I used it for the first 2 months I had the car then stopped. I think it's more gimmick than useful. I was also worried about slowly burning out the relay contacts which control the seat motors by causing the seat move each time I enter and exit.

I sell real estate and am in and out of my car a lot--and I'm short, so the seat has to come forward a lot for me to reach the pedals!!! I love this feature!

I'm 6ft 2in around 250 lbs, and have never been inside a gym unless it was for a bathroom break after Burger King, & having the wheel go up is nice. The front door/seat relationship in my driving position allows for EZ in/out without moving the seat at all.

I'm 5' 3". It takes real patience to wait for the seat to come up far enough for me to reach the pedals! But if I try to get out with the seat in that position, it hurts my leg. So this feature is perfect for someone like me. I'm just happy that somebody at MB thought of me!

I had the same “problem” with my 2004 E320. It was working fine for the first 2 weeks then it stopped. This is what I did this morning:

• I moved the seat further up than I normally sit.
• Turned off the car. Pulled the key from the ignition. Seat and steering wheel moved back and up.
• Turned on the car.
• Adjusted seat, wheel and mirrors. Saved in Memory.
• Turned off car. Seat moved back the way it always did.

Give it a shot.
