Out Of Control!!
Michigan doesn't require it. But the bracket and holder is still on there. I don't know why. I'm just lazy.
Out Of Control!!
Its required here in California and I have not been pulled over yet. I have pass by cops so many time and yet nothing and been driving for years. My brother got pulled over the other day and officer told him about the front plates

yes my mom has hers on. the bracket unfortunately came with the car. but we don't put our license plate, we put the mercedes-benz license plate with the emblem in the middle. looks better than regular plates, but not as good as no plates at all. also recently got 1 fix it ticket from it when i was driving the car. F'ing bull****, now i have to put my numeric plates on, take the car to the CHP to get it written off, then come home and put the mercedes plate back on

i don't have front plates on any of my cars, and have never had front plates on any cars i have owned since i was 16. i've never been pulled over for it or cited for it or anything (lived in the bay area most of the time, and orange county for 2 years, they are required in cali but supposedly enforced mainly in socal even though i never got cited for it down there). unfortunately there are holes on the front bumper of my E320 where they drilled for the plate, i figure i'll just get a brabus front bumper and bodykit or something

Probably payed over $700 in fines and a few court apparences over 20 years..for not having a front plate..I think it just ruins the whole look.
I have a case going on now though and i would appreciate some ideas.
The car i have now doesn,t even have the holes on the bumper and really wouldn't wanna drill any either.I got to take a picture for the court with the plate showing. How can i make a picture without drilling holes for the bracket?..double sided tape?? magnet? photoshop???
Thanks Guys.

?? $100 ?? my ticket from parking enforcement in L.A. was only $25 for no front plate.Originally Posted by bigmikeyee
Hi guys, yea i agree, front plates are UGLLLLLLLY. i refuse to kill the look on my '04 clk500. anyways, i got my car new at Autohbahn Motors in Belmont, CA and the blank dealer plates came on the front so i took it off and yes there are tiny holes, but it's ok. Bottom line is that i was parked at an Out of Order meter in SF this weekend and i'm sure he was originally going to write me a ticket until he saw it was out of order so instead he wrote me a TICKET for no front plate ($100 fine). It's a fix it ticket so i have to put it back on, pay the fkn $10 fix it administration fee, and then u can bet within hours, i'll take it right back off.Anyone agree?

just use some tape. if you really want to make it convincing you can just cut the heads off of four screws and stick them over the holes in the license plate so it looks like you have it screwed onto the bumperOriginally Posted by georgedaman

I got a very high quality plate holder, with a polystyrene "glass", put my personalized plate in it. I also had the dealer spray paint the holder to match my color.( Desert Silver ). Not perfect, but also not bad.
am riding "bareback" here too.... always keep the plate in the car tucked between the seat and center hump... you can always see it if you look into the car... have been stopped once going into the tunnel... told the guy I had been smacked up front and that the dealer had forgotten to order the bracket... "I mentioned that I was all thumbs when it came to screw drivers and would get it back on as soon as possible!"
most of the Bentleys and exotics seem to not have them on in the city... figure it is more the "frontal appreciation" attitude of the sales manager at manhattan motorcars.
any other more "pedestrian" car has the plate bracket put on automatically at the entry point for NJ, NY, and CT.. I'm sure the dealers can get "knicked" for not putting the plate on when they sell the car. My car came from a dealer down in South Jersey... and I was lucky that it had never been licensed and "plated"..(guess they figure people in MD buy cars there and don't want the stupid bracket aleady mounted on the car!) It is enough of an issue for me that I would buy my car outa state just to bypass having holes drilled into my bumper!!

Dealers on L.I. dont put the bracket for the front plate on the car untill its sold and they know where the car will be registered. Used cars have them if they came from 2 plate states.
Never mind the front plates... its beyond me how DMV departments can come up with such fugly inspection or registration stickers in such disgusting color combinations for the front windshields.

I've been wondering. Do some cops not pull people over for no front plates because there's a chance they could be from another state, and if that's the case, wasting the cops time...?

I didn't have my front plate in Chicago - it's a requirement but the car looks nicer without it, but moved to Europe and now my benzi has to have the license....looks weird with this wide plate.....
