For the US: A V-6 sedan and wagon, a V-8 sedan (E500), and a Supercharged V-8 AMG model.

So far, what I've heard about the V6 for 2003 is that it is still the E320. There was some speculation as to whether it would be the E320 or E350. RAB (Robert Brown) has told me only the E320 is listed as a go. Which is interesting, especially if they are considering the 3.5 V6 for the R230 SL-Class.

The SC V8, I believe, is slated to be an E55, and is to get the engine from the new SL55 AMG.

U.S. Market

Does anyone know how the 3 lines of E's (classic, elegance, avantgarde) relate to the U.S. market? I have heard that the E320 gets the elegance trim and the E500 gets the avantgarde. Also will the E500 have a different body kit than the E320?

First of all hello to everyone from the new member
I went to dealer's new E class presentation last Friday and took some pics. There was some interesting info too. I am not sure about the USA, but the EU line up for this year will consist of 5 engines and there will be 5 more introduced next year, bringing the total to 10!
This year there will be:

E 220 CDI
E 270 CDI
E 240
E 320
E 500

Next year additions:

E 320 CDI
E 400 CDI
E 200 K
E 55 AMG
and some smaller engine, I don't remember, maybe 200 CDI?

As everyone probably already knows E 55 will have SL 55's slightly detuned engine with 448 hp they said and yes, finally there will be V8 250 hp diesel with monstrous torque available in the new E!

Most likely guess at this point:

E320 Sedan
E320 Wagon
E320 4M Sedan
E320 4M Wagon
E500 Sedan
E500 4M Sedan ?
E55K AMG Sedan

I'm not sure where the re-introduction of the diesels will come into play.

Thumbs up Diesels in the line-up

Substantiated rumor has it that the E-class will again have a diesel component. The E270 CDI will be introduced in sept along with the rest of the line-up. This is being done on a trial basis to se what kind of response is gotten and could possibly lead to many of the up to now euro-only diesels coming to NA.
