320CDI sounds better from the outside!

Those of you who have read my messages 'E320CDI will it get quieter'
will know I am a little paranoid about the subject!
Anyway, my recent observation is that the the diesel 'knock' or 'tapping' call it what you will, seems more obvious form inside the cabin than outside. Maybe my hearing is a little weird but from outside, the car makes quite a comforting roar when accelerating.

Nice to hear that, and may your roar develop to a deep 'V8 rumble'.

Regards,
John

Me thinks you are getting a little paranoid. Yup.... :p

It's a DIESEL and the noise level will NEVER be as low as a gas engine because of the compression ratio. Live with it and enjoy it otherwise wait until 2007-8 when they get the new gas hybrid E's.
