New '04 E500
Anyway, spotted an '04 Techtite with Charcoal E500 on the lot. Built in April with sunroof only. Maybe that's why it had 63 miles on the clock and still not sold...until now. Had a few misgivings about buying a car with so many relative miles and months on the lot but the $$ savings was too much to pass up for a grocery getter. I figure the included maintenance and $600 lower invoice will save about $3000 over the next 4 years compared to an '05. Even though they delivered it to her tonight, is there anything I'm missing on this '04 vs '05?

Is Flint Gray (05) lighter than Techtite (04)? Hard to say from the paint chip. Didn't see any on the dealer lot.
Price paid was invoice. I don't have it in front of me anymore but it was $55K and change on a sticker of ~$60,300. $1330 drive off which I assume is DMV and other lease fees. I think the MF was .0025 or 6% and payments are $875.
First impressions: I drove it for about 90 minutes today in the hills around home and find that it handles and rides BETTER than my W210 E55! Steering is very responsive and more precise around the tight hairpin turns where I live. I like being able to switch between the Sport 2 and Comfort settings on the Airmatic DC. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
Tires and wheels are a little weak visually IMO. A little too much gap in the wheel wells. Car sits higher on the right side, BTW. Amost 1/2 inch! They are quiet and comfortable but can be pushed reasonably hard without too much squeal.
HK radio sounds much better than the old Bose system. Spatial quality is much more realisitc. Love the in-dash CD changer. Much more usefull.
7 speed transmission is smooth as silk and much quicker than the superb 5 speed. Amazing how little feedback you feel during shifts up or down until you put your foot in it. Car feels much lighter and quicker than the W210 430. Can't wait until the break in period is over to really put it to the test.
For a grocery getter, this car is perfect. If it were for me, I'd still need the other $35,000 worth of options to be happy
