question about 19" rims

Hello,

I have a 2004 E500 with sport package and I want to get 19" rims. Now I know it will look great when the car lowers itself but I'm wondering if it will look bad when the car is at it's normal height. Any pics would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want to put rims on only to find out that I need to have the car lowered as well for it to look right.

Thanks,

Bugs

I'm sure it'd look fine. No pictures to show you here, but you don't necessarily have to lower the body itself, I believe.

moa4r,

You said you used to have 19's. Why don't you have them anymore? I was just wondering if you got rid of them because it screwed up the ride too much or was it for something else?

Regards,

Bugs

it was for the $$, I actually enjoyed the ride a lot more with the wider, better tires over stock; do a search on this topic you will find much discussion on it; the car feels so much better with performance tires

Guys is it true if you lower the car the warranty on the car is void? That's what my dealer said but I think they are full of ****...hmm, ****...reminds me of their service.

Obviously if you lower your car with a lowering module, your car will look tighter and more aggressive. But be reminded that lowering module will only lower your car for about 1". It's okay not to lower it, depending on how you want your car to look. If you need more advice, you are more than welcome to shoot me an e-mail.

Throw on your wheels, not much risk in not lowering a car.. if anything, do the $2 lower method..

Your dealer will say putting an air freshener will also void the warranty. If you lower the car with a lowering module, only the suspension warranty may be voided, BUT IF, AND ONLY IF the malfunction/problem is DIRECTLY caused by the aftermarket parts.

Thanks for the replies. I've already read all the posts to do with wheels on this car and I just haven't been able to come across any pics with 19's at stock ride height which is why I started this thread. Anyways, after giving it some thought, with nice looking 19's the car could only look better, not worse....as long as someone can confirm this question --> will the car still keep it's original ride height after putting 19's on? Here's the tires sizes I would be using: 245/35-19 in the front and 275/30-19 in the rear. Hopefully this doesn't make the car sit higher otherwise I'm not getting them until I'm ready to lower the car. If I remember from before, the car can be lowered by up to an inch via the computer right? If so, I would do that...but I don't want to alter the sensors or anything hokey pokey like that.

More or less the same. Your 17" tire has an overall diameter of 25.1" front/24.8" rear, while the 19" will have an overall diameter of 25.9" front/25.6 rear. The proportional increase are the same and the actual increase is insignificant.
