Question E200 Kompressor NGT (Compressed Natural Gas) mileage

Hello Everybody. I have a 2007 E200 kompressor that also runs on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). This is a factory standard system (option 924 NATURAL GAS DRIVE). The CNG tanks can hold 18kgs of compressed gas and I should be able to get about 300km's out of it. This is written in every possible review. However no matter what I do, I get 245km max out of a full tank, even when driving like a granny. I only get 300km when it's highway kilometers only. I have checked for leakages and found none. The car runs great.

I was wondering, are there members here with the same car (the w211 CNG's are all the same) that do get the promised 300km's on a full tank? If not, how much then?

Thanks a lot for answering. Greetings from Holland,

Marius

So, if you get 300 km range on a highway, I don't see any problem. Usually you get the best mileage on highway driving when you can keep constant speed and there is no stop and go driving.

Normally I would think the same. However a friend of mine has the W212 NGT version. Same engine and transmission but a larger gas tank that holds 19,5kg and he gets 350-370km on a full tank. And I read a review that the w211 could get 300km's on 15,9kg of gas. So that's why I think there's maybe something wrong with my car.

And that's why I would want more real life information from real owners

. I worked for a national company that used CNG in its fleet of vans that were all the same. Respectfully, this laws of physics remain the same regardless of your circumstances. Stop and go traffic; hilly roads (even slight inclined road) ; concrete vs. asphalt; altitude, E.G. our Denver CNG fuel usage was different from Miami; tires size/type on the vehicle; and many more variables, including the driver. Hope that helps.
