airmatic issues. short pump op and rear spring clicks

Hello,

Im having issues with my airmatic system 2003 E500. The car will not raise up. mostly in the rear. but front is also lower than before.
I replaced the valve block and compressor. Still not raising to proper levels.
I replace the compressor but what i notice is the compressor comes on then shut down rather shortly.
Also I hear clicking on the rear air spring which are Arnott replacements. sounds like some type of electric relay or valve sound.

displays shows airmatic visit workshop.

I did not replace the compressor air filter will that come in play with the issues?

Thanks.

That's simple. Pull the filter off and run it in a clean area.

If not the filter, run a scan and see what surfaces. If no indication of where the issue lies, soapy water test the system, all lines and connections, the bags if possible (some are shrouded prohibiting this kind of access). With any luck some elements will be Arnott in which case carry a lifetime warrenty.

did the filter pull and soapy water test. not leak there and no change. Towing to shop. the rear has completely deflated. once i get the confirmation it is the arnott spring, shop will work with me in getting the rerturn/replacement.

How long is the compressor running??

Might not be the air spring or the compressor, or valve block, it might be the module that controls it, or it could be one of the lines in another place.

pump issues

Did you replace the compressor with a brand new one? If not, you should also look at the pump piston and cylinder to see if the piston has scored the walls. I recently ordered a "2018" manufactured dated OE pump off ebay. It would not pass the 40 bar test in das. I could not believe it. Took it apart and the piston had scored the cylinder wall so badly it would not build pressure and actually pushed air out of the air intake line. So someone had exchanged the pump parts to make it look newer. I could not return the pump, so I rebuilt my original pump with good parts, and now it holds pressure.

You should also ensure the rear level sensor did not become bent or damaged.

Good luck with diagnosis.

My Indy diagnosed the compressor faulty. Yes. New faulty compressor from Amazon. replaced and appeared to be fixed.

In my experience with the airsuspension, if the air compressor is turning on for only a few seconds the computer isn't getting the information it needs to fill it all the way. When raising the car with the suspension it needs to be pretty close to ground level for it to fill up. If you still get the same result it may be the rear ride height sensor. Its a lot easier to figure out with a scanner. The compressor also needs read that the system is holding the correct amount of air which I believe is somewhere around 14 Bars. Also with the rear springs the connectors can get dirty and will not make a good connection. I hope this helped.

MB Service

On the airmatic, MB Benz service best. You probably have some wiring corrosion above the compressor in the wheel housing that you can’t see. This is one of those jobs i now prefer to let the pros handle. You already replaced the compressor and air bladders (?) and you still have a problem. Usually Mercedes replaces the relays at the same time. So, probably corroded wiring above compressor which delivers air after the relay box that signals which bladders need air.
