Keyless Go and Summer feature?

I know how to close and open the windows/sunroof from the keyless go buttons on the car, by holding down the door buttons. However...

How do I close or open the windows/sunroof using the Smart Key? I've tried holding down the buttons to no avail, this should be possible (w210 did this)... Please advise.

Same as W210. Point the key at the IR receiver on the door handle. Hold the buttons down.

This gets covered every once in a while, if you do a search, you'll see that a lot of people have the problem too... it just comes down to holding it close enough and trying it.

ah.... do you think there is enough IR range to get it from the second floor of my house =) It certainly can lock and unlock the doors with its radio range.

hey, no that wont work, you have to actually be perpindicular, or around there with the car, with your key pointing at the handle. GL

Jeremy Clarkson (a controversial motoring journalist) carried out a test on increasing the range of his key to open the door of his SL55AMG. This was carried out on an airfield and he doubled the range of the key simply by holding the key against his head and pointing it towards his car whilst pressing the relevant button???

He assured everyone that it was not dangerous, but try this at your own risk.

Was the key aimed into his head or away from his head?

Maybe it was his IR brilliance which amplified the signal.

You need to be careful. I was sitting in my office one day fidgeting with the keyless go smart key and when I went out a little later, my trunk lid was open. I was in a fifth floor (fourth for you europeans) window office facing the parking lot and the car was parked about 75-100 feet in front of the building.

On the W211, when you press & hold the unlock button on the smartkey while it is aimed at the little burgandy IR window on the outside drivers door handle, the roof and all the windows will all open (or close if they are open already) as long as you hold the button in. You must press & hold even after the door buttons unlock.
