That looks nice. Perhaps I should have ordered the brushed. Oh well, too late. The lip in the rear is great. I only wish the front could be half of that.

You will enjoy your HRE's regardless of the finish. When the time comes to have them refinished, if need be that is, you can always send them to HRE and have them brushed and clearcoated.

Thanks!

AMG@805, I have never been for the color matched too much unless it was black. If they were blue, I would never be able to resell them if I had to.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I'm weary of potholes, but I am always weary - even if I had the stock 17" wheels. Hopefully, I won't ever hit the big one.

Hi Benzo,

I just ordered the 841R's in Gun Metal for my E500. Is your car lowered in your pics?

hre

The wheels look great.

Also, your car looks lowered. Can you tell me how you did it? I have 19's coming in the next 2 weeks and definitely want to get rid of the 4 wheel drive gap on the car.

thanks
mike

Thanks! Yeah, it is lowered about 2.0"-2.25" all around.

I did it using the mechanical method. Essentially, the airmatics can be lowered 3 ways, by a lowering module (about $2K), by computer (not sure what Scorchie charges, but probably much less than $2K), and mechanically by moving the sensors (free).

The lowering modules are the most expensive, and probably the hardest to install. Some are height adjustable.

Computer is probably one of the better ways, but you need to find someone like Scorchie (In the Bay Area) to do it. Most of the Dealerships will not (unless you know them). You can only readjust the height, however, by having the procedure repeated.

Lowering it mechanically is the cheapest, and involves fooling the height sensors into thinking the suspension is riding too high, in which the airmatic lowers the car. You can use washers or a bracket or a combination thereof to lower the front. Mine is the combination of the TWS brackets and a couple of washers.

The rear sensor involves repositioning the sensor rearward about 1/2-1/4 inch. You can readjust the front height easily by adding or subtracting washers, and readjust the rear height by moving the sensor forward or rearward. This is actually pretty simple, but you do need some mechanical skills. Some are weary of this last method for voiding of the warranty for the airmatic.

Do a search here and you will find more detailed threads. Also do a member search for Scorchie if you want his services.

Here is probably the most informative link regarding the mechanical method.
