Exhaust consensus on E500
What should I get?

I've seen the Carlssen set of muffler and tips for about $2k.
I've also seen 3 part #s for a set of AMG ones through the dealership for about $1K.
Does anyone have a diagram of the exhaust route? I am real interested in removing the "resonator". Is that legal? Is everyone sure that it is only for noise and or back pressure?

You should look into Eisenmann exhausts. They're really good. Here is their website if you want some literature.

Those are so expensive, too. Are they just mufflers?
What is this resonator thing anyway?

Is the Brabus set up just the mufflers and tips?
Also, how much louder than stock is it (inside and outside)?

It's a catback kit, I think. Includes the resonator.

It's definitely much louder than stock. You can hear it in the car, but it's not over powering. Where are you located? If you're in the Bay Area you're welcome to come listen to it.

well, I cut out the resinator for now. Not much difference, just hits a bit more now. I also did NOT connect the two sides, so it sounds a bit like an old caddy

I think there's a shop near (or in) San Diego (forgot the name) that Carlsson NA said has their exhaust in an E500. Contact MAXDOG, I think he's been there.

yeah, i've seen em. i just hate paying $2 grand for a set of mufflers.
