CDI instrument cluster swap: gasser okay?
The instrument cluster in my '04 W211 CDI has been glitchy and kinda useless for a while so I'd like to replace it. (It's not a dead pixels issue so much as it just displays gibberish.) I'm gonna pull it this and see about the trick where you wedge a little bit of foam or something behind the ribbon cable to make sure it's making solid contact but if that doesn't work, I'd like to confirm: swapping in the IC from a gas E320 won't work, right? Or will it be fine except for a tach with a different redline? There's a junkyard nearby I can go pull one from a gasser for like half the cost of a CDI IC, hence my question.
