The Airmatic on my 2005 E500 4Matic Wagon finally gave up the ghost a few months ago at 200k miles, so I ordered and just finished putting in the BC Racing J-31-BR coil-over set-up. I haven't really done any driving as I've got other changes I'm making to the car, so no reviews or pics yet.
Anyway, in the meantime I'd like to get some spacers, but I'm not sure what size is going to work best, so I thought I'd see what others' experience has been.
Since I don't have the concern of the bags letting out, I'd like to get as flush as possible. The wheels I'm running are the stock 17" fat five spokes from that generation.
Initial measurements are that it would require 25mm front and 35mm rear, but that seems too aggressive and I think since I was in a hurry I probably could have done a better job.
Is anyone else running this setup with spacers? What did you do?

I took your advice and drove over to where the car is stored and re-measured. I measured from the widest place on the sidewall of the tire to the fender and it's more like 15mm front and 25mm rear. I think I'm going to go for that and see how it works out.

How was the install of the BC kit? Considering this swap myself but unsure what other parts would be needed. Did you swap rear control arms or upper spring perches during the install? Were you able to get rid of the airmatic warnings after the swap? Thanks for the info!

It was fairly straightforward, but time consuming. I think it took me around 8 hours. The biggest issue I had was a frozen bolt I had to heat up to get loose. The only other part I needed was rear lower control arms from a non-airmatic car. I still have the airmatic warning but it doesn't bother me.
