Hi everyone, I feel like I'm at my wits end with this car. It's a 2009 W211 e280cdi and I have spent a fortune trying to get it up to scratch but it's still not playing ball. Unfortunately it has a problem with blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. When parked, It's light/low volume at idle but I notice when I build up the revs and hold them, it seems like the engine is missing and thick blue(not white) smoke belches out the exhaust. I have checked on star and there are no codes, with the dynamic compression test function suggesting the compression is OK. Any help would be great as I don't know which way to go from here. Thanks, John.
Hi, thanks for the replies. After stripping out the turbo, there is oil coming from the exhaust housing, so I presume the seals have failed. I have ordered a new core to fit once it arrives.
On the point of blowby I still wonder if its excessive. Could someone explain the cap test to me? Is it done with the pcv pipe still attached to the inlet before the turbo. If I covered or blocked this I feel like the cap would be blown off. When attached the cap just sits there. Does this mean the blowby is acceptable? Thanks again for the replies.
PS-sorry I'd say pressure coming from cap for sure not a vaccum.
