The fonts on the new sticker looks reminds me of a circus theme. 
At least you could replace that crap with some decal off ebay.

why do ya'll even want to keep the sticker there? I dont think people need to see a sticker that says "Mercedes" , "A Mercedes-Benz Product", etc...
Its like tatooing your own name on your arm.... why? in case you forget your own name?
I took my off soon after delivery of my vehicle... Looks cleaner this way... my opinion, i guess

Although more 'classy' the Y. Daimler signature signifies DaimlerChrysler rather than Mercedes-Benz now that everyone is aware of the merger. Obviously Mercedes-Benz is trying to distance themselves from DaimlerChrysler the corporation. The signature 'Mercedes - A Mercedes-Benz Product' achieves this goal, no reference to Daimler or Chrysler.

The new design, first generation, will only be in play till mid 05. Afterward second generation stickers are going to have a random computer generated number rather than a signature. Every quarter MB will have a third party randomly pick a number that matches one of the numbers assigned to the vehicles sold or leased relative to respective quarter and one lucky owner will have their vehicle lease or financing paid in full or full reimbursement for a cash sale by MB minus local sales tax and registration/title fees.

Agreed, but the signature should have been a finer line, and it should have said "A Mercedes-Benz Product", or simply "Mercedes-Benz", and not mention Daimler.

Otherwise I agree the new sticker is awful (its one of the first things I noticed on my new S430.

I agree with Barry and others that I prefer the older style (2004 and previous) windshield decals. However, these things are typically not thought of lightly, and by the look of the font (looks early 20th century to me), I'll bet this is taken from an old design. Who knows? I'd be interested to find out how this came about.

pilot20, you missed my point. The Daimler signature used to signify Daimler-Benz prior to the merger, so yes it would make sense to have had it on pre-merger cars. Now that they have merged, the perception is that the signature stands for DaimlerChrysler, Mercedes & Mercedes-Benz has been lost. IMHO, it has a lot to do with Chrysler. Mercedes image has been seriously tarnished.

I don't think the new sticker looks that bad. It is definitely different (and we all know how much we Benz owners dislike change), but I think it looks classy. It is actually the original font that was used originally on the first cars badged with the "Mercedes" name. If there are any MBCA members that subscribe to The Star magazine just look at the May/June issue and you'll see a picture with this style badging on the grill.
Actually, the older sticker featured the signature of Gottlieb Daimler, inventor of the world's first automobile, and his first initial was actually a "G". Also, this sticker was around way before Chrysler was ever brought into the picture so your theory of MB trying to distance itself from them is invalid.

Looks to me like an old fashioned chromed trunk emblem.
On first glance, the new sticker looks a lot like an old style chromed tail/trunk emblem.
If you imagine the letters in raised metal chrome, kinda seems a bit cool.

The pic confirmed my worst fears about what the new sticker could/would look like - that "thing" will never stay on any car of mine! I'll have to carefully preserve the one I have now and transfer it to all future cars! How I don't know...but I will think this through before the next purchase!!

They do harken back to the old days, but they are too crude a design to be on so forward a car. You wouldnt find a heavy looking 1930s era Buick logo on a 21st century Buick either... and I cite Buick as the most staid, conservative division of GM.

Any suggestions? I don't know if this will work on the M-B visor stickers, but on my Porsche, I used denatured alcohol (the kind sold at paint and hardware stores) and gently removed them using a Q-tip repeatedly soaked in the alcohol. The Porsche ones are very thin on one side -- they almost look like they're painted on. Nonetheless, they can be removed in this fashion. On the other side, they're thicker, so they break apart and rub off more easily.

Go to a paint store & get a quart of "VM&P Naphtha". It will remove ANY goo, & ff you soak a paper towel with it it will make any label float off. It is an excellent Bug & Tar remover, and when dabbed on the carpets will remove virtually ANY stain like dry cleaning solution. DO NOT GET IT ON THE VINYL OR LEATHER. IT WILL DRY THEM OUT. IT REMOVES THE OILS FROM YOUR HANDS TOO & WILL LEAVE THEM A LITTLE WHITE & DRY. It is a completely safe item to use however. Just wash your hands. The oil in your skin will be back in a little while or put hand cream on. ...or use rubber gloves. (I don't)
