W211 E200 Kompressor (2003) - Power Steering Went Off in a Bang
Hello 👋
I've had this car for about 6 months now there was always the steering pump whine, and heavy RPM Drop at full steering turn. once there was a burst pipe that leaked pump fluid, but i got that replaced in time.
I always kept an eye on the Fluid level
Last night i was Reversing with Full Steering Turned Left, i heard a LOUD Pop, and the power steering went dead instantly, the steering wouldn't turn back , i had to use help to turn the steering wheel back.
I was able to drive home with zero power steering, now the car is just sitting, its almost impossible to turn the steering while the car is stationary.
Is it only the steering pump? it just needs a replacement?
OR
The loud pop could mean something with the linkages?

NEVER hold the steering wheel against the stops. Touch the stops if you must, then back off a couple degrees. Your steering system will thank you (and will last a lot longer).
