Parktronic False Alarm

Once in a while, I'll be sitting in traffic at a traffic light, far enough behind the car in front that I'm outside the Partronic alert envelope, and the audible alarm and the double red light (in front) will go on. After a few seconds, they both go off. I never see anything that might have passed in front of the sensor to set it off. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

A raindrop on a sensor? Mine too! Not as well developed a system as on GM vehicles. Not as accurate as times too.

It happened today and it's sunny and clear here. Perhaps it was a leaf or piece of paper blowing by. Mine also goes nuts in one of those car washes in which you stay in the car. But I expect that.

Finally, I keep telling everyone that ""They are out there"""" but no one would listen!!!!!!

Now proof, PROOF at last, just sit in your cars and when the Parktronic sounds for no apparent reason grab a large (very large) butterfly or better still..... Albatross net and run to the front of your car and ''swish'' the net violently from side to side............... Until............

They're coming to take me awat ah ha, they're coming to take me away.
To the funny farm, far, far away.

Mind you it could be rain, heavy exhaust pollution from the vehicle in front.

Regards,
John

I had the same type of problem. They replaced the sensors and said they were defective.
I had the impression that it was not a rare event. The new ones have to be painted to match your body color.

Thanks for the response. Except for the painting, that should be simple enough. This is my first problem with the car after almost 5 months.

I have had and continue to have the same problem, even after the dealer replaced my front sensors. And yes, they do have to be ordered and painted, meaning that they will probably have your car for some time.

I had no problem after they were replaced.

I had them order the sensors and have them painted....then I took the car in to have them installed. They did it in a few hours.
