I took delivery of a 2005 E55 this week and I spotted some very bizarre “damage” to the plastic cosmetic cover on the front passenger door (where the door panel seals against the dashboard). It looks as if the panel had somehow melted but I removed the panel and all looks well underneath with no signs of heat damage. This is a 20k mile car which is in otherwise great shape. After poking around at the inside of the cover it seems like the “bubbles” are actually hollow as I was able to puncture some of them.
Has anyone ever seems something like this? Im stumped.
Remove cover to inspect behind if fine could be water damage. Shop left 2117270148, right 2117270278 for used replacement.
First thing I did was to pull the cover. It’s perfect behind the cover, no water or any other type of damage. I’ll also note that the cover is VERY brittle, the tabs broke off with barely any effort at all. Already ordered a new replacement from FCP but this mystery is driving me crazy. Lol
