Door Lock Button replacement (all vehicles) also posted in W204 section

Has anyone ever replaced a door lock button on the newer vehicles? On the older cars, the lock button did screw on to the door lock pin, which goes up and down.

On the newer cars (W204), it appears that it does not screw in, but I am not too sure????? Seems like there is a notch that needs to be aligned, as there is also a marking on the very top of the button.

On my daughters 2008 C350, the rear door has a bare lock pin, and it looks as if the bottom of the knob broke off and is stuck on the pin. (Bottom part circled in red on attached pic)

In order to get the new button on the pin, I need to be able to remove the broken sleeve (bottom part which is stuck) from the pin. Do I just pry it off? The n push the new know on top of the pin?

Thanks, any help is much appreciated.

This is unfortunately a newer model W204, also appears to be a coupe. The knob looks different than the one I show in my picture as well.

My issue is on the rear door. I went to the opposite side to see if I could unscrew the knob, but it just keeps on turning and does not appear to be threated. I think it may just "pop" on to the pin?

Still wondering how I may get that bottom piece off of the pin to get that new knob on. I need to figure out how to cut it off, as I seriously do not feel like taking the door panel of.

I was hoping you would not say "remove door panel", no such luck I guess.

As the bottom broken off piece is still stuck on the pin/rod, I think I will measure and cut the new knob to the correct dimension as per the opposite door and just glue it on, as there does not appear to be a lot of "meat" on the broken part to grab on to, to pull it out.

Thanks very much for your help Konigstiger, it is as always greatly appreciated.
