3Yr NavUpdate Subscription (DVD)
Subscribing to Mercedes-Benz Navigation Updates (NavUpdate)
The only navigation subscription available from an automotive manufacturer, NavUpdate allows you to update your DVD navigation system regularly, at substantial savings over single DVD purchases. It is exclusive to Mercedes-Benz owners. *
Why Update the Map?
It's estimated that 15 to 20 percent of the data in your navigation DVD changes every year, so it's important to keep the information up-to-date. By subscribing to updated DVDs you'll always have the confidence you need to find your way.
* DVD COMAND Unit Navigation Systems vary by model class.
Also 3Yr NavUpdate Subscription - $498.00, I will soon see what I gained with this upgrade program!

I've seen pictures of the Japanese nav where there is interactive traffic routing. I doubt that is in the US, but I can always hope. Please either email me the pictures or post them here.
Thanks,
Gareth
Would be great to see pictures, if there are changes to feature set/3D screens/info displays. My car came with v2004.2.

Your thread has struck a nerve with me. I am at present in correspondance with Merecedes-Benz UK over this very issue. We are paying a staggering £373 for each DVD upgrade which works out to approximately $670. This year so far there have been two upgrades!!
I have asked if Mercedes-Benz UK have considered a subscription policy similar to what you have described but so far it has fallen on deaf ears
I have had a quick search but could not find your link. Could you possibly let me know the exact location please?
Thanks,
John

Therefore unless you knew all the old points of interest on the old DVD, you wouldn't be able to "see" any changes on the new.

I think this is a BIG ripoff by Mercedes for all of us! The update DVD's do not contain many updates in my local area for aome road changes that were completed in past two years. The POI's are also not all updated. I have a Magellan Roadmate 700 that I use in my Yukon SUV and also in rental cars when I travel. It recently provided a FREE download update of the display, POI's and street files. The Magellan interface and display is, in my opinion, now far better than the Mercedes system and the fact they provide free and timely updates is another plus. We should get the updated DVD's for no more than $50 and if MB wanted to develop brand loyalty, they could send them to us for free as opposed to the blankets, key chains and coffee mugs I've gotten in the past.
Thanks,
Gareth
They should provide this for free. But, if this was the CD based nav, in order to get the entire US you needed to purchase it seperately. What a ripoff.
Thanks,
Gareth
Info also appears on the in-dash readout (center of speedometer).
From my experience in E's in Europe, it looks simiar when Euro have the large Command screen as we do.
No 3D views.
No rerouting via traffic.
Overall the info readouts are pretty slim. But it has proven to be pretty accurate so far.
Hope that helps a bit.

How much is the annual subscription for the US navigational upgrades please?
Thanks very much,
John
